Welcome to our Halloween bonus series, Tales from the Gutter. For the month of October we will be focusing each week on a different genre of horror/spooky comic.

This week, we discuss Slasher and Splatter comics. To kick off this conversation, we each read Nailbiter by Joshua Williamson with art by Mike Henderson and colors by Adam Guzoski; Hack/Slash: My First Maniac by Tim Seeley with art by Daniel Leister and The Abandoned by Ross Campbell (Sophie Campbell).

**Warning: by their nature, splatter and slasher comics heavily feature gore and the fragility of human bodies.**

Our hosts for this episode were Kayleigh Fleeman, Kirbotron 2000, Kit Deforge, and Cade Reynolds.

This week on View from the Gutters our topic work is Nailbiter, Vol. 1 & 2, by Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson. From Image’s website:

“Where do serial killers come from?” and why has Buckaroo, Oregon given birth to sixteen of the most vile serial killers in the world? NSA Agent Nicholas Finch needs to solve that mystery in order to save his friend, and he’ll have to team up with the infamous Edward “Nailbiter” Warren to do it.

In our recommendation section, our hosts nominated Mystery Society, The Unwritten, Namesake, Nowhere Men, Copperhead, and The Sculptor for discussion on the next episode, and our selected title is Mystery Society.

Our hosts for this episode are Andrew Chard, Joe Preti, Kayleigh Fleeman, Brant Gillihan-Eddy, and special guest Alison Poppy of Out of the Fridge.
