On this episode of??Back Matter our hosts have read volumes 1-3 of??Amulet, by Kazu Kibuishi. It is the story of a young girl named Emily, her brother, and their mother who are all transported to a mystic land which was once home to Emily’s great-grandfather. There they have a series of adventures involving a mystic amulet of great power, the King of the Elves, and a group known as The Stonekeepers.

We use this comic to frame our discussion with Audrey about her experiences as a young female comics reader, as well as a larger discussion about the relationship between the comics industry and younger readers.
