This week on View from the Gutters our topic work is??The Question: The Five Books of Blood, written by Greg Rucka with art by??Jimmy Palmiotti, Diego Olmos, John Van Fleet, Jes??s Sa??z, Steve Lieber, Manuel Garcia, Eric Trautmann, and Matt Clark. Originally released under the title??52 Aftermath: Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood, this 5-issue mini-series follows the events of the seminal weekly DC series??52.

It features Renee Montoya???who took up the mantle of The Question in??52???continuing her crusade to both understand and ultimately bring to heel the Religion of Crime, who venerate Cain as the first criminal. It also guest stars Renee’s frequent companion (and former lover),??Batwoman.

In our recommendation section our hosts nominated Black Science, The Winter Men, Damage Control: The Complete Collection,??Journey into Mystery: Fear Itself, Vol 1 & 2, Samurai Jack, and The Incredible Hulk and the Thing: The Big Change??for discussion on our next episode, and our selected title is Journey into Mystery: Fear Itself, Vol 1 & 2.

Our hosts for this episode are Andrew Chard, Tobiah Panshin, Kayleigh Fleeman, Kit Deforge, Brant Gillihan-Eddy, and Cade Reynolds.

This week on??View from the Gutters??our topic work is??Superior Foes of Spider-Man, #1-6 by??Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber. One of the more recent comics we’ve discussed,??Superior Foes is a somewhat comic take (no pun intended) on the traditional team of Spider-Man villains, The Sinister Six… despite the fact that there’s only five members on the team.

It’s a street level look at the Marvel U. from the perspective of five C-list super-criminals as they tangle with heroes, other gangsters, and the occasional parol officer. It’s a fun, witty break from the high drama of titles like the Avengers and Inhumanity.

In our recommendation section our hosts nominated Rick Remender’s Uncanny X-Force, Vol. 1-4, Rice Boy, The Eternals, Vol. 3, and The Unknown??for discussion on the next episode, and our selected title is??Uncanny X-Force, Vol. 1-4.

Our hosts for this episode were Andrew Chard, Joe Preti, Tobiah Panshin, and Cade Reynolds.

This is our special “Ladies Night” episode, staring none of the regular hosts! We’ll be back next episode, having read the book our guest hosts picked for us. Enjoy this view into the perspectives of four female comic fans.??????Hosts: Amarantha Kost, “Kirby” Green, Kayleigh Fleeman, Annjeanette Thompson
